A Sender ID is the unique name or number that appears as the sender when a recipient receives your SMS. In India, sender IDs are mandatory for businesses using Transactional and Promotional Bulk SMS services.

📌 Types of Sender IDs

  • Alphabetic Sender ID (6 characters): Used for Transactional or Service SMS. Example: MUZTEC, HDFCBK
  • Numeric Sender ID: Used for Promotional SMS. It usually appears as a random 6-digit number like AX-672890

🛠️ How to Register a Sender ID in India (DLT Process)

  1. Step 1 – Register on DLT Portal: Sign up on a TRAI-approved Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) portal like Vi DLT, Jio DLT, or Airtel DLT.
  2. Step 2 – Upload Business Documents: Provide your PAN, GST, company letterhead, and authorization letter.
  3. Step 3 – Register Entity & Headers: Add your business details and submit your desired 6-character Sender ID (Header).
  4. Step 4 – Wait for Approval: The portal verifies and approves your sender ID, usually within 24–72 hours.
  5. Step 5 – Link with SMS Provider: Share the approved sender ID with Muzztech to configure it in your SMS account.

🔐 Guidelines for Choosing a Sender ID

  • Must be exactly 6 alphabetic characters (A–Z) – no numbers or symbols
  • Should reflect your brand or business name (e.g., MUZTEC for Muzztech)
  • Avoid generic words or phrases like OFFER, ALERT, or PROMO
